Saint Joseph Drive In honor of the Feast of St. Joseph on March 19, we have an opportunity for almsgiving during Lent for all the parishioners of St. Raphael Parish. The tradition of the “St. Joseph Table” originated in Sicily when the people prayed for the intercession of St. Joseph for relief from a draught and famine. In thanksgiving for the rain and harvest that followed, the villagers collected food for those who were poor and homeless on the Feast of St. Joseph. Those who participated in the Consecration to St. Joseph last year learned that one of St. Joseph’s titles is, “Lover of Poverty.” Catholic Charities operates a warming station for people who are homeless in downtown Pittsburgh through the end of March. They serve clients who are homeless all throughout the year. We are collecting non-perishable snacks and toiletry items at our three churches from March 5 through March 13.
